/ DANGDI / DANGDI / DANGDI /Job seekers in Denmark face a slightly tighter labor market. Danish unemployment rose by 300 full-time positions last month, according to The Local. The national total reached 93,700 unemployed people. This outcome corresponds to an unemployment rate of 3.1 percent.
Data comes from the Labour Market and Recruitment Agency. The total figures include two main benefit groups. There are 78,500 people receiving dagpenge unemployment benefits. That figure grew by 300 recipients last month. Another 15,200 people receive kontanthjælp cash benefits. That group grew by 100 recipients.
Unemployment in Denmark has increased gradually since last autumn. Over the past year, total joblessness grew by over 6,000 people. Figures show increases in 11 of the past 12 months since July 2025.
Industry experts point to specific local factors behind these changes. Kristian Skriver is head of the Danish Confederation of Business and Industry. He noted that layoffs at Novo Nordisk pushed up unemployment. An increased influx of Ukrainian workers also contributed to the rise. However, Skriver emphasized that no major wave of unemployment has hit Denmark.
Union experts also remain optimistic about job opportunities. Erik Bjørsted is chief economist at trade union Dansk Metal. He stated that overall unemployment remains at a low level. Long-term unemployment also stays low in Denmark. Unemployed workers can still quickly find new jobs.
